BIG writing question (at least for me)

Post by M Dragon159 on Tue Jul 15, 2008 8:54 pm

I have a huge question that keeps nagging at me. You know, in books, how if someone's saying something and they get interrupted? Like:

"No way I wi--"

I'm getting confused on how to make it correct. Is it two dashes? One? Space before and after the dashes? Could someone explain it. Also, is this the same concept like in:

The beuatiful wings--flashing off in every color possible--appeared within thin air, on the back of...

Can anyone explain this stuff?

I only use one hyphen.

This works:
"No way I wi-"
and so does
"No way I wi -"

I would do the second part something like this:

"The beautiful wings - flasing in every color possible - appeared within thin air on the back of..."

I'm not positive if that's how you do it. Maybe somebody would be more helful than me.

Thanks a bunch. One hyphen is really helpful (and makes sense). That answers my question.
