Story!

Hi peoples! im writing many many stories. My main one is called Sky City, which I dont think can get published because It has too many spoofs and not even the name of the story is original. But I do the story for fun. The 2006 part of it has an estimate of 400 pages....and the world blows up in it. Usually, Im EXTREMELEY shy in sharing my stories with other people and i hate geting negative feedback...

Wow! That sounds fun! Please, don't be shy. This forum is so that we can help you improve. We won't tell you negative things. We'll always try to give you inspiration to become a better writer.

We don't' have the time to read 400 pages in one sitting.

Yeah, definitely. If it's split into chapters, post each one of those one at a time, if the chapters are long, you can break it up into "Chapter 1, Part 1" etc. Or you can just post however much you want at a time by going "#1, #2, #3" etc.

Also, I think that in most cases, you're more likely to get a good critique, and more likely for people to read it if it's shorter. I try to post no more than two pages on MS Word. But this, too, is up to you.

400 pages? Wow! I used to really scared about showing my work to others. On this one website I was at, people just said:

This is terrible and I don't like it. Sorry but perhaps writing isn't for you

That completely destroyed me, until I found such a great community as YWS! This is a mini version of that, but we offer concrit and won't put you down all the time. I am sure you are a great writer.

Yeah, I kinda dont think its really 400 pages. Its just that many things happen in it and I know you people dont have the time to read that much.....I dont guarantee that it really is 400 pages maybe one half of that or a third....I hate negative feedback as well and dont take to negative feedback kindly. And yes, I always convert it into chapters.

So is this 400 pages manuscipt format? Double spaced, size 12 courier new? If so, that is a god sized novel! Feel free to post your favourite/least favourite parts and get some feedback.

Can I just post it normally? Like in a post under this thread? If thats ok with you.

The whole thing? Or just an extract? Either way, put it in the approprate place and people will read and offer crits.

Well, maybe not the whole thing, maybe just each little bit a post of half the story.

Sounds fine, just post it in whatever genre it is. I may make an Advanced Critques forum for huge stories, we'll see how it goes.

Post it please, I enjoy reading new things and don't worry about negative feedback, there is always negative feedback but that feedback shouldn't be taken the wrong way, such feedback is the key to improving, harshness defeats the purpose of a writer, although thats what you will face if you become a successful novelist or author. But don't worry, as long as your pleased with what you have done it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you have done your best. People who put you down are snobbs and think that they are much better than everyone else, real people show you how to better yourself, as long as your happy nothing can go wrong.

And if you're posting your story maybe put it in weekly chunks, like 1 chatper 1 week and chatper 2 the next. Gives space into reading and you can develop your skills as you move along.

Is it bad to say that I have a forum that I made? Id post it there....and here.

I shall visit your site and read your works! Time permitting I should have it done in no time. There is only one problem that I face, I don't know if I should register to your site, don't take it the wrong way, I would register happily but theres so many sites I've signed up to I'll probably forget about yours :S So much stuff to look at in a day, but don't worry, if I don't sign up physically, I'm signed up mentally.

Its ok if you dont register....It be cool if you did though.

Its not you or your site or anything much I just think that if I register to anymore sites I may explode xD, these days people make you memorise loads of passwords and account names and it takes its toll and you can never remember what password fits which site.

Chapter one: Christmas Day"

2005 was at its end. It was currently ChristmasTime, the citizens of Sky City had come back from the space expedition. As usual, citizens were raving with madness, shopping for holiday gifts. The people were quite exaggerating over nothing, since shopping wasnt all that important for some people.13 year old Lady Lara was the only one who hated shopping. she was quite lonely, seeming that she only had Jodie and Caitlin to talk to over the internet. But there was always 14 year old chinese girl Trixie, there for her, she just never acknowledged it. Her only two MSN pals barely seemed to keep her happy.

As for the Sky City citizens, they had not stopped thinking about the space expedition. Lara wondered why it was so necessary for the people in Sky City to
have gone to the stupid space expedition in the first place. She had been the only person who hated the Martians with a passion. The Martians had made friends with
the Sky City citizens and with Earth as well. The gullible people actually trusted them. Lara was the only person smart enough to hate the Martians. She was right to feel this way. The Martians were really feeling a way to annihilate the people of Earth, they had just tried to disguise it as a plead for "friendship" This made the gullible Earth citizens life feel, normal, perhaps too normal. How stupid can they be? Back to the story.

It was no wonder that Christmas was the favorite season of the year.
People by this time in December were going buck wild, ripping open presents to open and see what they like. Most of the people hated their gifts. Especially the 36 year old bear woman Verme, who had her birthday on Christmas. But this time, she didn't receive any presents. Her neighbors had given up on buying her presents, trying to please her. By this year, Verme was throwing herself a Christmas/Birthday Bash.
As Verme stood at the front door, waiting for people to come to her party, she looked at her watch, impatiently. Tapping her foot, she heard her 8 year old adopted skunk daughter approach.

"Mommy where are the visitors? I have to pee, BADLY!"
She wailed. Verme stopped tapping her foot and turned to her.
"Charlotte why is it everytime that we wait for something, you have to go piss???"
"Mommy! because I have a weak bladder!" Charlotte replied.
"Since when?"
"Since I was born!"
Verme stood there, thinking.
"Oh yeah, thats right! You have a bladder problem!" Verme finally said.
Charlotte gave her a look.
"Mommy I may be adopted, but you really should know more about me!"
"Well I do, honey I do!"
In that moment, a tiny ant man approached them. It happened to be Frank FrankFooter the ant.
"Foolish girls, is the party here?" asked Frank, obviously being mean.
"Franky! My ant man! Where the hell are my visitors?!?" Verme replied.
"Theyre coming! And DONT call me Franky!!!" Screamed Frank.
Frank whistled.

Out of nowhere, came an Ugly Chihuahua and Cat leading a pack of endless people. The two animals appeared to go by the names of Ren and Stimpy. They had been familair with everyone in HollyWood, nevermind Sky City. Verme was
very happy that everybody had arrived.
"Alright lets get our fucking uglyass groove ON!" she swore, sounding half-retarded. Ren had admired Verme's sense of enthusiasm.
"Right she is, lets get this parteh started!!!" Ren screamed, sounding retarded
as well. As everyone ran like maniacs into the house, poor Ren was squished
under the feet of the many people.

Night was quickly falling.
Verme's house was the loudest in the whole neighborhood, making people go insane. Not to mention the people in her house were already insane themselves.
That night was a gay, happy time. For people had been swinging from light fixures, shouting out the window and finally, they were drinking eggnog on top of her very roof. Verme wasn't enjoying her party very much.
As mentioned before, she hadn't recieved any gifts from her neighbors.
Lady Lara was the only person who was considerate enough to give Verme a gift.
Feeling like the only person to give Verme a gift, Lara felt foolish, but she tried not to let it show. Lara felt awkward.
"Here's your gift...." Lara said as her voice trailed off.
Verme took the gift, not noticing Lara's regrets.
That was when Verme scared Lara by suddenly screaming at the whole crowd.
"WHAT THE dear does a grown ass girl need to get attention in here?!?!?!?!"
She roared, her voice ehcoing throughout the room.
Silence emerged for 3 seconds, even the music stopped.
A sponge by the name of Spongebob Squarepants shyly raised his hand.
"Err...I got you a present...." he said, nervously raising a peanut bag in his other hand. Verme gave him a witch look.
"THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH YOU GAY ASS!" Verme replied.

LadyLara, please post your story in the FanFiction/Other Fiction forum, and create a new thread for it.

Many more people will read it.

Err...Im sorry? Im confused about some things, sorry.
But Im shy about posting my story here so Im not sure If I should post it.
