What word count is everyone on at the moment, if you are writing a novel? I am at 13k now... this is going so slowly.

Well I'm at 27k right now, about 1/4 the way through. I find it goes faster for me when there is a lot of dialogue, its a bit embarrasing but I talk to myself and it comes out in writing.

What do you find thats going slowly? Just that you may be feeling the boredom set in and you're loosing the spark.

I am definatley mad about this story, it's just that I never have enough time and I see the internet as my worst enemy - always checking for new posts. :?

Well you could designate a specific time to start and finish your work so you don't get side tracked, I'm quite lucky with my work, I do it at school during dinner time or any lessons when we have substitutes and I can usually get about 500-1000 words done in a day. Well thats the aim anyway.

I never have time;

I get back from school at 4:00, have something to eat, do my homework, and by 5:30 I am really tired. So I play a game for a bit to take a break and have dinner.

Then I work on my novel. Writers block too, I just can't think of anything to write, or at least, how to write it.

hmm, maybe for writers block you could try free writing, if you dont know what it is, its the act of writing anything that comes into your head, anything at all and you keep writing for about 5-15 minutes then stop, this should hopefully free you up a bit and you may find something to write about but I totally understand your problem it happened to me before but luckily I've got my novel planned out with individual scenes so I've always got something to work from.

Perhaps if you haven't yet try planning it, it may help you incase you forget an idea, maybe keeping a small notebook around you so you can write an idea down at any time. Really helps a lot. Most ideas come to me in class and I just feel the urge to sneak it out and write it down.

Well if you are going slowly its better than not going at all, you just may be having a rough time with it, happens always then you get back on track. Also if you have an idea try to brain storm around it, i usually add quotes that come into my head from the characters and build up to those quotes.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Thanks, I agree with you. The problem is, I have planned it all out, but I just can't think of a way to write it down. I will do more planning tonight - outline etc. Thanks for the tips.

No problem. I dunno if they are particulary useful but I suppose they could help if you're in trouble.

If you cant figure out how to write it down then write it down the way you see it or write it out several times in different ways, it may seem a bit of a waste of time but it may help you find out how to write it. If you want you could send me some of your recent extracts and I could give it a review or two and see if there is anyway you could improve it. Completely your choice but I'm here for you if you need any help with anything.

Well, The Magic of Chocolate, which is very quickly running out of plot, is only at 7,205...

Reaper's Song is a very new story (like a week old) and I've been really, really, really busy for a competition thing since Wednesday, so it's only at 2,786 words.

But I'm liking the second one...

Lol The Magic of Chocolate, an amusing name, I like it, it reminds me of Chad Vader in Chocolate Rain. If it is getting you down then I don't think its the right story for you, try another.

Keep it up, write when you can and your Reaper's Song will be finished it no time.
